AUTHOR

Morren, Ruth Axtell

SUMMARY

Ruth Axtell Morren wrote her first story when she was twelve-a spy thriller-and knew then she wanted to be a writer. There were many detours along the way. She studied comparative literature at Smith College, spent her junior year in Paris, taught English in the Canary Islands and worked in international development in Miami, Florida, where she met her future husband, who took her to The Netherlands to live for six years. It was in Holland, in 1990, that Ruth began seriously crafting her first story, between the births of her children, Justin, Adaja and Andre. It was there, too, that she gained her first recognition as a writer-as a finalist in the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Contest in 1994. Ruth decided to continue writing fiction when she and her family moved to the beautifully wild coast of Maine. Winter Is Past is her first novel, and her second, Wild Rose, was published by Steeple Hill in October 2004. Ruth's journey of faith parallels her outward journey-seemingly circuitous, sometimes wandering in the desert, yet ever guided forward by the Good Shepherd.
