Dr. Coleman C. Hatfield is a direct descendant of Devil Anse Hatfield, being his great grandson. Besides being an author, optometrist, and president of the Hatfield Historical Associates, Coleman finds time to enjoy many hobbies, including gardening and beekeeping at his home in Stollings, in Logan County, West Virginia, which he shares with his new bride, Virginia Robert Y. Spence was born and raised in Logan where his relatives have lived since 1790. He is a graduate of Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Through the years, he has written numerous magazine and newspaper articles about the people and places of Appalachia Coleman A. Hatfield was a respected Logan County attorney who passionately researched and recorded feud history throughout his life. The son of Cap Hatfield and the father of Coleman C. Hatfield, Coleman A. wrote lengthy journals and recorded many audio tapes about his grandfather, Devil Anse, in an effort to preserve family stories as an accurate record of Hatfield history.
