The New Testament story of the Greek whose hogs were corrupted by Christ ("...the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine") provides the background for this biting, urbane satire. Having lost his livelihood raising hogs for Roman tables in Judea, Demias first debates then competes with Jesus in what he calls, "the religion of business". In the tradition of Swift and Voltaire, Leonard Dugger has prepared a classical and elegant parable that will infuriate some readers, delight others, and impress everyone as a treat for the intellect. The Man Who Owned The Hogs is easy to read and difficult to put down. This work of engaging fiction will appeal to freethinkers and appall "true believers". Leonard Dugger graduated with honors in English and History with honors in English and History from the University of Arizona where he earned his teaching credential. He studied for the Christian ministry for a brief period, but soon found he couldn't support its teachings. He spent the next thirty years writing short stories, movie scripts and poetry while raising a family and earning his living as an aircraft mechanic for Lockheed. Upon his retirement, he moved to the central coast of California with his wife. They built their own home and bred flowers, developing the largest private iris collection in the state. Leonard Dugger died in 1992 "peacefully, with a smile on his face".Dugger, Leonard P. is the author of 'Man Who Owned the Hogs' with ISBN 9781879384187 and ISBN 1879384183.
