My name is Carole Ann Western. I am President and CEO of Montgomery West Literary Agency, LLC. Licensed in the State of Utah. I was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire England on 1/17/45. Immigrated to the United States and became a citizen in 1972; was married in 1968 and have five children, 10 grandchildren. I have always loved to write from the time I was a child. I think it is because my father always loved to read and write poetry to me; and being an only child I had a lot of time on my hands to read the classics. By the time I was fourteen, I had read most of the popular classics and noticed that by nature, it was easier for me write my feelings down, than to request something verbally. The first book I wrote when my youngest children were in kindergarten was Winds of the Karazan. It was bought by Cora Verlag/Axel Springer in Berlin, Germany. Cora Verlag signed me to a seven year contract to write for their young adult line which I did, and loved. After that, I decided it might be exciting to be a literary agent and became an agent for Writers Guild of America, West, and stayed with them for 18 years, during which time I sold 7 movies (some of which I helped write) and several books, which did quite well. When one of my sons developed brain cancer, I threw myself into writing, and it was at that time, I realized that writing wasn¿t only entertainment, relaxation or even a great learning tool. Of course, it is all of that, but it was also therapy and a way to communicate what I felt in my heart and touch other people in similar circumstances. After Jeff died, I kept writing screenplays, and decided to continue my education. I obtained my MBA from Bedford University in England and my PhD in Philosophy in creative writing two years afterward. Since then, I have spoken at writers seminars and taught English at Dixie State College for three years. Up to the time of my son¿s illness my writing had been almost strictly fiction, but when I moved to Southern Utah and noticed children twelve to fourteen years old who were pregnant, with husbands in their 60¿s, I felt a tremendous desire to say something. It was then I began my book which took seven years, death threats and undercover visits to Short Creek to glean the information I needed. The hardest part was getting women to speak freely to me because they were so afraid of ramifications. Finally, with enough information, I began putting together ¿Inside the World of Warren Jeffs.¿ One of the experiences I found very unusual while writing this book, was knowing there were many important and dangerous people in the Southern Utah Area, who were interested in making sure some of the facts I had gathered, never saw the light of day. Because of this, I had to cancel my land phone and go strictly to cell phone usage. I also had to sell my house and move to a safer location. Even though I tried to be as fair-minded as I could with my writing, I realized there were always going to be some animosity.Western, Carole A. is the author of 'Inside the World of Warren Jeffs', published 2008 under ISBN 9780977903993 and ISBN 0977903990.
