Family psychologist John Rosemond is Director of The Center for Affirmative Parenting (CAP), located in Gastonia, North Carolina. CAP is a national parent resource center whose primary activity is that of providing workshops and other educational presentations for parents and professionals who work with children and families. CAP also provides print and audio materials on parenting and child development. Since 1978, John has written a nationally syndicated parenting column which currently appears in close to one hundred newspapers across the United States and Canada. He is also the regularly featured parenting columnist for Better Homes and Gardens magazine. John's last book, John Rosemond's Six-Point Plan for Raising Happy, Healthy Children, was published by Andrews and McMeel in 1989 and was, after only nine months, in its fifth printing. His first book, Parent Power! A Common-Sense Approach to Raising Your Children in the Eighties, was published by East Woods Press in 1981 and Pocket Books in 1983. Parent Power! is currently out of print, but is scheduled for re-release by Andrews and McMeel in the spring of 1991. In 1981, John was selected "Professional of the Year" by the Mecklenburg County Mental Health Association of Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1986, he was presented with the Alumni Achievement Award by his alma mater, Western Illinois University. Throughout the year, John is in considerable demand as a public speaker. His parenting presentations and workshops have drawn high marks from parent and professional groups all over the country.
