"This thesis in psychology explores the role of individual characteristics in the development of antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems. The studies were based on a longitudinal project comprising a group of adolescent male lawbreakers and controls and on more recently collected data on a representative group of Swedish male and female adolescents. The main results show that neuropsychological deficits, manifested in attention difficulties, and personality traits reflecting disinhibition and negative emotionality, contribute to antisocial behaviour and risky alcohol use, in turn increasing the risk of subsequent alcohol problems. The findings stress the importance of focusing on female's development of these behaviours, since most theories in this area have been developed primarily on male groups."--BOOK JACKET.Eklund, Jenny M. is the author of 'Adolescents at Risk of Persistent Antisocial Behaviour and Alcohol Problems The Role of Behaviour, Personality and Biological Factors', published 2006 under ISBN 9789171551733 and ISBN 9171551735.
