The contributors include ex-POWs Tom Uren and the late Sir Edward ('Weary') Dunlop, a Korean guard once sentenced to death as a war criminal and a Japanese historian specialising in the history of Japan's relationship with Asia. The editors are respectively professor of Japanese history and a senior fellow in the Research School of Pacific Studies, ANU.
