Andrew Hempstead As a travel writer, Andrew Hempstead spends much of his life on the road. But he always looks forward to spending time at home in the Canadian Rockies, traveling the mountain highways, hiking the trails, exploring new places, updating old favorites, and researching historical facts. Andrew has been writing since the late 1980s, when, after leaving a career in advertising, he took off for Alaska, linking up with veteran travel writer Deke Castleman to help research and update the fourth edition of Moon Handbooks Alaska-Yukon. In the ensuing years he focused on writing about Canada, authoring guidebooks to Alberta, British Columbia, the Canadian Rockies, Western Canada, and Vancouver. He also authored a guide to the Maritimes and co-authored books to Atlantic Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Andrew spends long hours on the road, but rather than having an itinerary laid out for him by local tourism offices, he travels incognito, experiencing the many and varied delights of Canada the same way his readers do. Andrew lives with his wife Dianne and daughter Brio in Banff, Alberta. When not working on his books, Andrew spends as much time as possible enjoying the wonderful surroundings in which he lives: hiking, fishing, golfing, camping, and skiing. The website www.westerncanadatravel.com showcases Andrew's work, while also providing invaluable planning tips for travelers heading to Canada.Hempstead, Andrew is the author of 'Moon Handbooks: Canadian Rockies' with ISBN 9781566916998 and ISBN 1566916992.
