Nancy Smiler Levinson attended the University of Minnesota where she majored in journalism. She worked in newspaper and magazine writing and then editing at a publishing house in New York City. But she ventured down an entirely new path in her writing career after she married, moved to California, and became the mother of two sons. She began to write books for children. Writing for young readers is the most joyful and challenging work she has ever done. Now her children are grown. She lives with her husband and her retriever, Scarlett, in Beverly Hills, California.
