Rolf D. Cremer, PhD, is Professor of Economics and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Business, Massey University, New Zealand. Concurrently, he is President of Netbig International University, in Nanchang, China. From January 2003, Professor Cremer will join the China Europe International Business School, in Shanghai, China. His research interests cover a wide range of issues, including labour market and employment, international economic relations, and linguistics and economics. Anne de Bruin, PhD, is Professor of Economics in the Department of Commerce, Massey University at Albany, Auckland, and the Director of the Academy of Business Research, Massey University, New Zealand. Her research areas include labour market dynamics, community solutions to unemployment, new entrepreneurship concepts, and rethinking the welfare state. She is a strong advocate of the benefits of inter-disciplinary research. Several of her recent international journal articles and other publications are in collaboration with colleagues in Sociology, Marketing and Finance Ann Dupuis, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social and Cultural Studies at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. Her current research interests include the changing nature of labour market, especially with respect to non-standard work, women entrepreneurs, urban governance, urban sustainability, urban development and new forms of urban housing patterns Patrick Firkin is a Massey University Scholar and research with the Labour Market Dynamics Research Project at Massey University, New Zealand. The chapters he has contributed to emerged from the combining of his post-graduate research interests in the sociology of ageing and economic sociology, particularly in relation to the experiences of self-employed people and families Kate Lewis is a researcher at the New Zealand Centre for SME Research at Massey University. She has a particular interest in the phenomenon of youth entrepreneurship Claire Massey, PhD, is the Director of the New Zealand Centre for SME Research at Massey University. Her research focus is 'enterprise development', i.e. on the processes and systems that can be put in place to help individuals and enterprises become more successful Peter Mataira, PhD, was a visiting fellow to the University of Hawaii's School of Social Work when his contribution was written and has now taken up a full time position at the school. He is New Zealand Maori of Ngatiporou and Ngati Kahungunu descent. His research interests include comparative analyses of indigenous entrepreneurship, the politics of tribal development, integrated models of social work practice and community development Chris Moore, PhD, is Professor of Finance and Banking and Head of the Department of Finance, Banking and Property at Massey University, New Zealand.
