Robert Bringhurst is an internationally renowned poet, linguist and typographer. As well as publishing over a dozen books of poetry, including The Calling: Selected Poems 1970-1995, Bringhurst is the author of The Elements of Typographic Style, which has become one of the most influential contemporary texts on typographic design and has been translated into Greek, Italian and Dutch. He is also known for his translations of the works of the great Haida myth tellers, notably Ghandl's Nine Visits to the Mythworld, which was shortlisted for the inaugural Griffin Poetry Prize in 2001. His recent publications include Ursa Major (GP, 2003) and The Solid Form of Language (GP, 2004).
