Pinnocchio

A wooden puppet named Pinocchio longs to become a real boy. Five sequels were written by authors other than Collodi and published in the U.S.: Pinocchio in Africa (Ginn, 1911) by Eugenio Cherubini, Pinocchio under the Sea (Macmillan, 1913) by Gemma Mongiardini Rembadi, The Heart of Pinocchio (Harper, 1919) by Paolo Lorenzini, Pinocchio in America (Doubleday, 1928) by Angelo Patri, and Puppet Parade (Longmans, 1932) by Carol(yn M.) Della Chiesa. Roberto Innocenti's illustrations for the 1988 edition won the Kate Greenaway Highly Commended Medal, 1989.
