Pratapaditya Pal is Visiting Curator of Indian, Himalayan, and Southeast Asian Art at The Art Institute of Chicago. During a twenty-five-year career at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (1970-95), Dr. Pal organized some of the most innovative and critically acclaimed exhibitions, such as Light of Asia: Buddha Sakyamuni in Asian Art (1984), Romance of the Taj Mahal (1989), and The Peaceful Liberators: Jain Art from India (1994). It is in the area of Himalayan art, however, that his contributions have been most impressive, with numerous exhibitions and scholarly catalogues. The author of The Arts of Nepal (two volumes, 1974/1978) and the pioneering Bronzes of Kashmir (1975), he is currently engaged in writing a three-volume catalogue of the world famous collection of Indian, Himalayan, and Southeast Asian art at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena Amy Heller is an independent Tibetologist and art historian and since 1986 has been affiliated with the Tibetan studies research team sponsored by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris Oskar von Hinuber is professor of Indian studies (Indologie) at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat, Freiburg, Germany Cautama V. Vajracharya is an adjunct professor of art history and languages and cultures of Asia in the Department of Art History at the University of Wisconsin-MadisonPal, Pratapaditya is the author of 'Himalayas An Aesthetic Adventure', published 2003 under ISBN 9780520239012 and ISBN 0520239016.
