SUMMARY

Barbera Secrist-Schmedes, founder of the Pandean Players chamber ensemble, lived in Washington, DC, and New York City for nearly a decade after undergraduate work at Georgia State University. While living there she performed with the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Wolf Trap Orchestra, National Symphony, Amato Opera, and the American Chamber Orchestra. Since returning to Atlanta in 1985, Ms. Secrist-Schmedes has performed with the Knoxville (TN), Columbus (GA), Macon (GA), and Columbia (SC) symphonies. Ms. Secrist-Schmedes recently completed a master of arts at Florida State University's renowned School of Music and has served on the faculties of Morris Brown College and Agnes Scott College. In addition to her role as artistic director and oboist with the Pandean Players, she currently plays English horn and oboe with the Augusta (GA) Symphony, manages the Atlanta Center for Arts and History Elderhostel Program, performs frequently with the Greenville (SC) Symphony and conducts statewide on-site evaluations of musical organizations for the Georgia Council for the Arts. Ms. Secrist-Schmedes has worked as an arts consultant to a variety of organizations including the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Business Volunteers for the Arts, Cobb Arts Council, DeKalb Council for the Arts, Jubilee Arts Festival, Sunday Serenade Concert Series, Cobb County Grassroots Arts Project, Augusta Symphony, Rome Symphony and Cobb Symphony.
