Jamil M. Abun-Nasr has taught at the American University of Beirut, the University of Sierra Leone, the University of Ibadan and the Free University of Berlin. He is now Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Bayreuth. Earlier publications include The Tijaniyya, a Sufi order in the modern world (Oxford University Press, 1965) and A history of the Maghrib (Cambridge University Press, 1971, 2nd ed. 1975), as well as many articles on the Maghrib.A History of the Maghrib in the Islamic Period, 3 was published 1987 under ISBN 9780521331845 and ISBN 0521331846.
