History of Metallurgy

The first edition of this standard introduction was published in 1976, and reprinted in 1979; this new volume is a second edition, completed before the author's death last year. The main changes are in the chapters describing the early development of metallurgy in which there has been so much recent research; the later, post-Roman chapters have been revised to take account of new discoveries from excavations.
