Timothy J. Paris studied at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and holds a BA in history from Duke University and a law degree from Indiana University. In 1997 he received a PhD in history from Cambridge University. He has published legal articles on a variety of topics, and in 1998 he published a study of T. E. Lawrence's influence on British Middle Eastern policy in the Historical Journal.
