SUMMARY

Warren Harding was the publisher of a newspaper in Marion, Ohio, whose good looks and pleasing speaking voice made him a political star. In 1916, he gave the keynote address at the Republican convention and was elected to the U.S. Senate. In 1920, he was elected president by a landslide on the slogan "return to normalcy." The job overwhelmed Harding, however. He offered little leadership, and his administration was accused of corruption. In August 1923, during a tour of the West, Harding became ill and died. Several of his close advisers were later convicted for selling government favors. Book jacket.Kent, Deborah is the author of 'Warren G. Harding America's 29th President', published 2004 under ISBN 9780516229652 and ISBN 0516229656.
