After receiving his MD degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia where his parents resided, Dr. Faguet pursued postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch and in Hematology/Oncology at Ohio State University, leading to an academic career at the Medical College of Georgia. His clinical and "bench" research, much of it in cell biology and leukemia, was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs for 28 years, leading to the publication of 140 peer-reviewed articles, 7 book chapters, and two previous books on cancer. Dr. Faguet was a member of numerous medical societies and an ad hoc reviewer for a number of prestigious medical journals.
