TALES OF POCAHONTAS COUNTY consists of brief sketches of incidents of Pocahontas County history. It is not a comprehensive history of the county, but rather, as the title implies, a set of stories written by a master tale-teller in the twilight of his years. He wrote these pieces as a series of newspaper articles for the MARLINTON JOURNAL in 1958, four years after his retirement, at the age of 77, from Davis & Elkins College & his return to his homeplace, Swago Farm.
