Knots matter to Des Pawson. His passion started at the age of seven when he was given a book with some knots in it. Since then he has made knots and ropework his life by running his own ropework business for the last 25 years, demonstrating his skills, and talking knots at Boat Shows, festivals, exhibitions, and museums in the UK, Europe, and the USA. His work has been featured in many magazines and newspapers. He has also appeared on radio and television, and has written extensively about knots. In 1982 he was the co-founder of the International Guild of Knot Tyers and in 1996 he opened his own Museum of Knots and Sailor's Ropework.
