In this children's chapter book we meet McGooster (rhymes with rooster) and McGyman (rhymes with simon) as the two kittens move to a new home. They are brothers, and they don't always agree. McGooster worries about everything and McGyman likes to test the limits. They refer to their resulting conflicts as 'discussions.' The sixteen (16) short chapters chronicle their first year. McGooster and McGyman may be kittens, but the issues they face and learn from are very similar to those young children experience. These issues include making new friends, handling jealousy, developing self-confidence and sharing one's special talents. As the kittens mature into young cats, they also learn that it takes practice to be good at anything; affection is reciprocal; teamwork is effective; sharing is fun, and different opinions deserve respect. The book ends as the young cats find out their family is moving to a new place and they must, sadly, say good-bye to their friends. The book is appropriate for ages 8-12 and as 'read to' for children as young as 5.Rochkind, Pat is the author of 'Mcgooster and Mcgyman Begin Their Adventures', published 2008 under ISBN 9780979243011 and ISBN 0979243017.
