SUMMARY

Alan T. Shao is the North Carolina Ports Professor of Marketing and International Business and serves as the Associate Dean for International Programs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Shao received his doctorate in marketing, with a minor in statistics, from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) in 1989. He has published more than forty refereed articles in many of the leading marketing and international marketing journals, as well as numerous proceedings at regional, national and international conferences. Dr. Shao has lectured extensively throughout East Asia and Europe and has served as Executive Research Director at Ashton Brand Group and CEO of Apex Global Group. As an active business consultant, he has conducted marketing research throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe for multinational advertising agencies, financial institutions, sports franchises, technology companies, legal firms, and consumer goods manufacturers. Some of the organizations he has provided marketing research services to include Coca-Cola, Nissan, Wachovia Corporation, Hendrick Motor Sports (NASCAR), Carolina Panthers (NFL), Decision One Mortgage, Wray Ward Laseter Advertising Agency, Tennaro Marketing Communications, Unifi Technology, Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Fuel Pizza, Murata Wiedemann, Physician Network Management, CEM Corporation, Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, Carolina Beverage Corporation, Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm, Foley & Lardner Law Firm, and Holly Ridge Foods. Dr. Shao is an active member of select organizations, including the American Marketing Association and the Academy of International Business.
