Marketing is something we cannot escape - either as consumers or, increasingly for those active in the commercial property sector, in our working lives. This book looks at the concept of marketing in a straightforward way and examines its relevance within the sector. With the help of a series of case studies, the book offers numerous examples of good marketing practice that should assist marketing specialists and property professionals alike. What level of marketing budget is right? Do we really need external research? Is advertising justifiable? How do we choose and brief an agency? - these are just some of the issues where practical guidance is given. The book should appeal to anyone studying to enter the commercial property industry or anyone managing or aspiring to manage a successful property business. The Author Martin Newman studied marketing formally before spending eighteen years marketing within financial services. He initially worked with Williams & Gyn's Bank (now The Royal Bank of Scotland) rising to Deputy Head of Marketing , before moving to Lloyds Bowmaker as Group Marketing Director. Since 1989 he has been Marketing Director of Healey & Baker. He has practised the full range of marketing activities in both consumer and corporate markets: from research, through product development, to all kinds of promotion utisising multi-million pound budgets and in-house and third party sales channels. His property experience began in the mid-1970's when, as manager of the branch development department of Williams & Glyn's Bank his remit was to recommend in which towns, which locations within towns and at what level of investment, the Bank should open new branches. At Healey & Baker his primie remit is to promote the firm corporately, though he has also been involved in a limited number of specific client projects.Newman, Martin is the author of 'Marketing in Commercial Property ', published 1997 under ISBN 9780728202771 and ISBN 0728202778.
