SUMMARY

Catalog of an exhibit in the Dept. of Prints, Drawings, & Photographs, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Trustman Galleries, Jan. 10-July 7, 1996. An introductory essay explains how lithography, or chemical printing,Ó was invented in Munich in 1796-1798 by the South German playwright & actor Aloys Senefelder (1771-1834), hoping to find a cheaper way of reproducing his plays.
