Introduction to Jainism

Jainism is an ancient but currently relevant religion from India, dating back to at least 2600 years. It does away with all intermediary demigods, and empowers individual for his/her fate, and puts the salvation in his/her own hands. It does not believe in caste system, and it treats men and women as equal. It advises against proselytization (converting others), and preaches tolerence and respect for oppossite viewpoints. It advocates staying away from hoarding, and against squandering of resources.The book is in several parts: 1. Fundamental Principles, 2. Practice, Rituals and Rationale, 3. Stories, and 4.
