Clarence James (Jim) McCormick II, was born during the first days of 1925 in rural Knox County, near Vincennes, Indiana. He attended Decker High School and Purdue University. After WWII, Jim began transporting produce grown on family farms off to market and soon began adding vehicles to his fastgrowing fleet. By the mid-1950s, Jim had purchased a small common carrier company, Indianapolis and Southern Motor Express, Inc. By 1976, through mergers and growth, he had expanded the company, now known as I&S-McDaniel, Inc., into a five-state regional common carrier. In addition, Jim founded McCormick, Inc., a Vincennesbased White Truck dealership. During the 1970s he rose to national prominence as the national chairman of the American Trucking Associations. In addition Jim served as Chairman and CEO of First Federal Bancorp, and was the major shareholder and chairman of Golf Hosts, Inc., an operator of luxury golf resorts. In addition to his business activities, Jim is an avid golfer, yachtsman, motorcycle and motor coach enthusiast as well as a licensed pilot and sea captain.
