Herman Melville's Whaling Years

Wilson Heflin (1913-1985) was a founder of The Melville Society. In 1946 Heflin joined the faculty at the United States Naval Academy, where he taught American literature, with a specialty in Literature of the Sea, until his death in 1985 Mary K. Bercaw Edwards teaches Literature of the Sea for the Williams College-Mystic Seaport Maritime Studies Program. She works aboard the only remaining whaleship, now berthed at Mystic Seaport, and has accrued 56,000 miles under sail Thomas Farel Heffernan, a former president of The Melville Society and a professor emeritus at Adelphi UniversityHeflin, Wilson is the author of 'Herman Melville's Whaling Years', published 2004 under ISBN 9780826513823 and ISBN 0826513824.
