Moving to Litchfield, CT with his wife and three children, he established and led a series of Read-Outs” at the libraries in Litchfield and Torrington and it was during this time that he accidentally discovered the poet Walt Whitman. As he has said so many times since, this discovery changed my inner life.” Soon he was writing a column for a local newspaper titled Poet’s Corner” in which he discussed a poem, poet, or some aspect of poetry.
