Popular British illustrator Edward Ardizzone (1900-1979) not only illustrated classics. As an official World War II artist, his pen and watercolor skteches from France, North Africa, Sicily and Italy are as emotionally moving as they are technically superb. Most of the art from his sketchbooks in this (illustrated booklet) that accompanied a centenary exhibition at the Ashmolean is previously unpublished.
