Economic Development : Multiple Federal Programs Fund Similar Economic Development Activities

In 1995, the GAO identified hundreds of Fed. programs (FP) that supported economic development (ED) either directly or broadly. In addition, it noted that there was a lack of agreement on the definition of EDÓ & that mission fragmentation & program overlap existed among FP that support ED. This report: (1) identifies FP that more directly fund ED activities, including the level of financial support that they provide; & (2) compares selected aspects of these FP, such as program applicants, to identify areas of potential overlap.
