This third edition of the E-Commerce and Development Report, published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, identifies some of the implications that the growth of the digital economy may have for developing countries. It aims to provide practitioners and policy makers with a better understanding of the options available to them in leading sectors of developing-country economies. By critically reviewing the latest developments in ICT and the knowledge economy it provides an analytical and empirical basis for appropriate decision making. It is also meant to contribute to the debates at the World Summit on the Information Society. As a whole, the report recognises the positive role of ICT in the development process and predicts that improvements in the e-business environment should eventually result in productivity gains in many of the developing economies. At the same time, some developing countries still face difficulties in identifying and realizing the potential benefits of ICT and the Internet for their economic development.United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Staff is the author of 'E-Commerce and Development Report 2003', published 2003 under ISBN 9789211126020 and ISBN 9211126029.
