Doctor and His Wife

Robert Underhill was born in Van Buren, Indiana, and graduated from Manchester College in that state. An air force officer in both World War II and the Korean War, he earned his M.S. from Northwestern University in 1947 and his Ph.D. from there in 1955. He joined the faculty at Iowa State College in 1947 where he taught for forty years rising through academic ranks to professor of English and Speech.
