Die Bauproduktenrichtlinie - the Construction Products Directive - la Directive des Prodiuts de Construction German/english/french

The term 2Construction Products Directive2 (CPD) for the 2Council Directive on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to construction products (89/106/EEC)2 has become a familiar expression to authorities, those involved in standardization, contractors and designers and - last but not least - to manufacturers of construction products. At the time of adoption by the Council on 21 December 1988 it was the third directive of the so-called 2New Approach2 which provides that directives shall no longer include any technical details, but only the general objective and essential requirements to be satisfied by the items to be regulated. More directives were elaborated in close succession and older ones were amended in conformity with the new approach. Inconsistencies in references and use of terms led to the amending Council Directive 93/68/EEC of 22 July 1993. The changes were not only limited to modifications of terms, such as 2CE marking2 instead of 2EC mark2, but entire paragraphs were revised editorially. Hence, the trilingual version (German, English, French) of the Construction Products Directive already published by German associations was not up-to-date any longer. Since it has proved useful to have the current text of the directive in the three languages stated to hand when working with European standardization committees and committees for the drafting of guidelines for European technical approvals this new version was drafted. The three column layout which stood the test was retained to enable a quick comparison between the individual language versions. As before in the older editions the statements for entry into the minutes were reproduced, though they are not part of the directive, but the knowledge of their contents could in some cases support arguments in the committees. New in this version is the comparison as to the contents of the three language versions.
