Ann Blakely Rice lives in the Texas Hill Country where she has taught yoga, meditation, and herb gardening in recent years. She graduated from the University of Metaphysics holding a degree in both Yoga and Spiritual Healing in 1996. She also has a B.S. in Fine Arts. She has shown her work in art shows, produced two CDs of all original music that has been played on local radio stations, published a book of poems entitled Angelwhisp (1993), and won the Editor’s Choice Award in 1999 for her poem entitled Roots.” Ann’s first cousin, the late Townes Van Zandt, was her mentor from an early age. He encouraged her in her efforts as a songwriter, and she performed as his opening act when he was in Houston.
