A former percussion instructor and working drummer, he is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He is the author of more than 30 computer, music, and business books including The Complete Idiot's GuideR to Playing Drums. Michael Miller is a popular author of numerous how-to books. He is known for his casual, easy-to-read writing style and his practical, real-world advice-as well as his ability to explain a wide variety of topics to an everyday audience. Mr. Miller has authored more than three dozen books since 1989, including The Complete Idiot's Guide to Playing Drums, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Home Theater Systems, and Alpha Teach Yourself Business Plans in 24 Hours. Mr. Miller began arranging and composing vocal and instrumental music for various groups when he was just 14. He later attended the world-renowned Indiana University School of Music, and was accepted into IU's prestigious jazz studies program. In 1981, Mr. Miller founded the Indianapolis Songwriter's Workshop (now known as the Indianapolis Songwriters Association), and composed the theme song for the inaugural central Indiana Ronald McDonald House telethon.
