Characteristics of the Uninsured : A View from the States

This report uses data from a national survey of preventive & health risk behaviors. The researchers estimated the number of adults in each state & the number of working adults in each state who do not have health coverage. They also compared reported gaps in care between insured & uninsured adults in each state, thereby providing an in-depth look at the consequences that adults in America face when they do not have health care coverage. This report was released to launch Cover the Uninsured Week,Ó the largest mobilization in history to promote health coverage for all Americans. This nonpartisan effort is being led by Pres. Gerald Ford & Jimmy Carter & is endorsed by nine former U.S. Surgeons Generals.
