Bare Essences

June Bowers, a life-long compulsive scribe, spent more than 30 years as a journalist for the U.S. Government, then found an outlet for her expertise in Toastmasters International, subsequently developing a repertoire of talks to entertain and inform for Civic and Social organizations and retirement groups. After ten years writing a monthly column for a local publication, she published her first book, Epiphanies, a compilation of true-life experiences. In 2004, she followed with a manual for speakers, Tongue Tied? Speaking for Fraidy Cats!. She met award winning painter and sculptor, Jini Mount, in a continuing education class at a Sarasota College. They became fast friends and when she decided to gather some of her verses into a little book, she asked her friend if she would be willing to provide some illustrations. The results produced by Jini in her gallery, The Celery Barn, exceeded June’s wildest imagination.
