The research objective of this thesis is to assess how the Prime Vendor program can provide the military with an exceptional distribution and inventory control method in the event of a contingency. Precisely how wartime resupply will occur is an unresolved issue in current contingency plans. The idea of outsourcing operations (through Prime Vendor) that do not add 'value' to the military enterprise has merit. However, with the introduction of commercial suppliers, the military will still retain control over logistics systems established in hostile conflict zones. Training and logistics interfaces between military personnel and civilian distribution systems will be critical to both the ability to resupply and to forecast demand.Naval Postgraduate School Monterey CA is the author of 'Applicability of Subsistence Prime Vendor to Contingency Rations', published 1996 under ISBN 9781423576105 and ISBN 1423576101.
