Billy Collins is a professor of English at Lehman College (CUNY) and a visiting writer at Sarah Lawrence College. He has published six books of poetry, most recently Picnic, Lightning (University of Pittsburgh Press, 1998) and has won several awards from Poetry magazine, including the Bess Hokin Prize and the Levinson Prize.
