SUMMARY

Ved Mehta was born in the city of Lahore, in British India, in 1934. He was educated at schools for the blind in Bombay and in Little Rock, Arkansas, and later Pomona College and Oxford and Harvard universities. From 1961 to 1994, he was a staff writer on the New Yorker magazine. His twenty-three books include excursions into fiction, classic accounts of modern India, where he has travelled extensively, and celebrated studies of his family in India and of Mahatma Gandhi. He has received numerous awards and honors, including two Guggenheim Fellowships and a MacArthur Prize Fellowship. He was a Visiting Fellow at Balliol College, Oxford, 1988-89, and has taught writing and history at many colleges, including Yale, where he held the Rosenkranz chair in writing, 1990-93 He lives in New York with his wife and two daughtersVed Mehta is the author of 'All for Love (Nation Books)', published 2001 under ISBN 9781560253211 and ISBN 1560253215.
