Much has happened since 1992, the publication date of this text's third edition, to change schools and school libraries. The publication by AASL of "Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning" with its emphasis on the collaborative teaching role of school media specialists, the new emphasis on information literacy, the proliferation of new technologies and the introduction of the Internet have all had huge effects on the administration of a school library media center.
