Rev. Dr. Deborah Willis is a native Philadelphian born to the parents of Mr. Samuel and Sara Alston of the famous singing family, The Alston Brothers of Philadelphia. Deborah started preaching under the late Pastor Benjamin Smith, Sr. of Deliverance Evangelistic Church. She has accomplished much in the gospel arena. For history hangs on the wall of the first black female pastor of Second Baptist Church of Nicetown in 104 years in Philadelphia. In the year 2000, she became the founder and pastor of Genelation Baptist Church in the same City of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Genelation Baptist Church offers a comprehensive ministry anointed by God exposing the Alpha and Omega. We believe the Lord has placed us in the kingdom for such a time as this! As a church, we honor the past by singing hymns and anthems on a continuous basis. We never forget the songs that brought our forefathers and mothers over. We honor the present by equipping and training junior ushers, trustees and deacons in the fear of the Lord. These young leaders are treated as the church of today and not tomorrow. For tomorrow is not promised to anyone. We honor the past, endeavor to edify the saints and to please the all mighty God by singing praise and worship without music (from time to time) so that our church will never get caught up with the method and miss the message. Music is wonderful but the Word of God is greater!Come Worship in The Beauty of Holiness Rev. Dr. Deborah Willis travels all over preaching the gospel earning a doctoral degree from Shiloh Theological Seminary and many other certificates and diplomas from Eastern Baptist Seminary and other Bible Institutes of learning. It has been said from her home church, Thankful Baptist Church where the Rev. Ivan B. Hewitt is the pastor that; "Rev. Willis has answered to a calling from the Lord since 1972 and has allowed the Lord to use her to do good work." There has not been a congregation too small or a location too far to preach God's word, proclaiming salvation to the lost and sanctification to the saints. She is becoming known as "The Preacher in the Raw." Rev. Willis does not sugarcoat the gospel but gives you the plain truth. The harvest is plentiful and there is much work to do. She is allowing God to use her to minister to others that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (paraphrased John 14:6 KJV). Her unusual style of humor enlightens and encourages all who listens while at the same time; God uses her to prick your heart and to make decisions concerning your relationship with the Lord. She is committed to serving Jesus first, others second and rarely thinks of herself. Evangelism is not just something she teaches others, but is a part of her everyday life and experience. "She is Evangelife," from sister and brother Al & Janice Russ. Pastor Ivan B. Hewitt of Thankful Baptist Church of Philadelphia, "No doubt the Lord hid this precious jewel for such a time as this to be assured of producing a choice illuminating and fragrant fruit.Willis, Deborah is the author of 'A Humorous Look At Pulpitter Etiquette: 7 Things You Do And Don't Do in the Pulpit', published 2005 under ISBN 9781419610998 and ISBN 1419610996.
