    That despite the numerous television shows and movies depicting criminal profiling as an almost exact science it is not. There is a lot of speculation and guess work that goes in to creating a profile and some times the profiler gets it wrong. When they get it wrong it can lead to terrible consequences like the true killer getting away for longer and committing more crimes or the wrong person getting convicted for the crime.
