Has great examples and walk throughs, coupled with MasteringPhysics you can learn a lot of physics from this textbook alone.read more
Very little wasn't helpful in this textbook, the solutions to end of chapter questions would be helpful
Not that I can say. This book is detailed and you can follow along clearly.read more
From this book I was able to learn about modern physics which was helpful for the classes I took that required this book. The book itself is detailed and the professors can take so much from it to help you learn the material well.
It's descriptive detail about how certain formulas were derived was useful in that it allowed me to understand why I was able to apply said formulas to situations, from a conceptual standpoint.read more
Well for one it's incredibly heavy to carry around. Also, as a student, if I was stuck on something trivial like a calculation error related to geometry or something, the book was too conceptual to help because it is more geared towards teaching you how to think than what to think. That approach is greatly useful in the long run but extremely frustrating if you are stuck on a problem.
The book had a tendency to use similar symbols for different variable definitions. Also a lot of the example problems skipped calculation steps that may not be trivial for everyone. A lot of the equations were also dumbed down and lacked vital set-up.read more
The order of the book flowed very smoothly. A lot of time if physics books go in a specific order topic wise you tend to miss important information that set ups for the next topic. For example circuits was covered after electic potential but before electric field.
