The pocket companion is very useful to carry around and use when you need a refresher.
The book did a great job explaining visually and in words how to perform physical assessments. I learned how to perform assessments I hadn't learn on the job.read more
It is so much better! It did a much better job simply explaining how to so assessments than other books I have used.

Physical exams for nurses. It was very effective by using pictures & online resources that showed the exam taking place.
Least helpful would have been so much knowledge. It is hard to point out the key things to look for. I would recommend the pocket guide for that.read more

Very descriptive but not too wordy. Gives an easy explanation and step-by-step directions to physical assessments nurses are required to perform in real life.
I would put more questions in the textbook, either throughout the chapter, or at the end of each chapter.read more
The book was very helpful because it provided a lot of pictures to go along with the "tests" that you were to be pro forming. The book also went well with the student lab manual. I was able to follow along in the book as well as follow along in the lab manual.
the picture guided assessment tools are awesome in guiding you in physical assessments of each anatomical area of the body. The size of the pocket guide is awesome and is easy to take along with you in clinical rotation and small enough to be discreet,but large enough to readread more
This book breaks down the disorders in simple terms and has diagrams for better understanding and also has nanda list nursing diagnosis in the back cover specific for psychiatric nursing and also explains in detail how physicians come up with certain psych diagnosis for the patient

It has so much information about disease processes and what to look for when examing an individual. This book really helped me to understand what I was looking for during examinations.
This text is helpful with physical assessment skills. It provides several illustrations, which I find helpful. It does a good job of breaking down the steps of the assessment process. I would recommend it.read more
The least helpful part of this book was the lab manual that came with it. I did not find the lab manual helpful whatsoever.
