I used this book for organic chemistry. It was an orgo class that the premed students took so it was intenseread more
I really have not read other books on orgo, but this book really helped me throughout the class.
This was used for two semesters in my organic chemistry class. It came with a lab and recitation section.read more
It was interesting to learn what the different reactions produced and how to draw them.
The questions after and throughout each chapter were very useful to understanding the concepts presented.read more
Some of the topics weren't explained very well. I would say some of the writing needs to be more user friendly.
It was easy to find all of the concepts and the charts were usefulread more
Explaining certain things was hard to understand.
I had to use this book for my Organic Chemistry classes, both part 1 and 2. These were classes that I took at Saginaw Valley State University.read more
This book was extremely helpful with all the concepts required in the class. I learned about the structure and nomenclature of organic molecules. I also learned how to combine these molecules and to form them. This book also taught me a ton of reactions that occur among organic molecules.
The text was so complicated. I had a hard time discerning the main point or "big ideas" before you get into the finer detail. Since chemistry is a subject that builds upon itself, much like math, I feel they need to focus more on main ideas in each section before the reader feels overwhelmed by all the smaller details.read more
Other books have done a better job breaking things down step by step. Chemistry is a very complicated and complex subject. If you do not understand one concept then then next one will be just as confusing to you.
The most interesting thing that I learned on the book was the reactions between molecules and all the forces involved in them. Although the book was hard to read, and I always will get lost in the first two sentencesread more
Simpler concepts broken down easier. The book was overwhelming, making everything so hard to read and understand. The languaged used can be very challenging for some students, it was a very complicated book...I used instead organic chemistry for dummies, which helped me a lot and I was able to get an A in the course.
A little more difficult. This book has a lot of assumptions in it which they seem to expect you to know.read more
The least helpful was the glossary because a lot of the definitions of words were different in the text compared to it.
I learned a lot from this book. The biggest thing I learned was all of the different reactions. There were so many to learn but the book laid them out so that it was easy to study each of them.read more
The actual text of the text book was the least helpful, I relied on the graphs, charts, and reactions to help me in my class more than I did the actual text and paragraphs in each chapter.
Organic Chemistry I and II It did a very good job explaining basic organic chemistry concepts with questions that reflect well on the material covered. The material was well explained with a lot of graphs and pictures which is necessary to see and understand.read more
My favorite part was the end when it brings together organic chemistry and biology concepts.
the structure of organic molecules and the mechanisms of reactionsread more
the chapter summaries were extremely useful - and the extensive end of chapter reviews
I am awful at organic chemistry but with this book I was able to understand it to the point that I could pass the class.read more
The problems throughout the book at the end of chapters really helped me to grasp the concepts.
