About the AuthorA Wyoming native Carol L Erickson was raised with a knowledge and love for the lifestyle of the rancher. Horses played a large part in the foundational years of her life. Her first half dozen years were spent at the Erickson and Sweeney family ranches in Sweetwater County Wyoming. She had her first horse at the age of four which was picked out from the Sweeney ranch mustang and Morgan bred horses. She hand raised him on the bottle with the help of her grandmother Bella (Isabella) Erickson.Later years of childhood were spent in the panhandle of Idaho where her mother was from; attending school there and summers going to Wyoming to the ranch at Mud Springs where she did most of the usual things necessary on a ranch in that time period; everything from riding long days to branding. She has three children Dan, Laura, and Stefan and eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren..The years from 1988 until 2005 were lived in Elko, Nevada where she was able to study oil painting and pursue a deep interest in photography. Being back in cowboy, pardon the mistake, being in "Buckaroo" country brought back the taste for ranch life and she began looking for ways to tell others about that lifestyle. This led to looking for cowboy lifestyle subjects and inevitably to the Damele horses. It was curiosity that led to having to know more about them and the result is this, her first serious writing attemptCarol L. Erickson is the author of 'Nevada's Mystery Horse', published 2007 under ISBN 9781419659638 and ISBN 1419659634.
