This book really helped me solving problems step by step.In the meantime, the pictures, explanations, and examples. Good organization. Informative. Great authors. It also helped me to apply information to real situations and research studies. Attractive introduction! I read the slides first, then move to the text to understand the material better.I absolutely love this book. I have used Campbell's and I love that one- but Life is amazing in their explanations and diagrams and pictures. Very organized. I love the website videos and quizzes they have. "Life: The Science of Biology" has definitely been one of the better biology textbooks I've used. The text is well written, with clear explanations and plenty of real-life examples to help you tie small details into the bigger picture. But beware: The information here is incredibly in-depth, so if you're only looking for a basic overview of biology, you may actually want a slightly simpler book, otherwise you may get lost in all the details. It was perfect for my 200-level class, and gave me all the information I needed, but I don't think it would be the ideal text for an introductory biology course. One other reviewer here mentioned that she used this text to teach her AP biology students. I took AP biology in high school (and got a 5 on the exam) and can guarantee you that this text contains far, far more than you would ever need to know to get a perfect score. It's definitely a college level text.

General Biology 202 and 203. This course introduces the principles and concepts of biology. Emphasis is on basic biological chemistry, cell structure and function, metabolism and energy transformation, genetics, evolution, classification, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate understanding of life at the molecular and cellular levels. Laboratory exercises reinforce lecture topics and include microscope techniques. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for the general education core requirement in natural sciences/mathematics.

I enjoyed learning about the systems of the body as these are larger pictures of how are bodies function and it is interesting and useful to know this information.

The basics, core of biology such as classification and which kinds of organisms have which kinds of cells as this is important for understanding biology in higher level classes.
