The selection of subjects also expands throughout history, including figures from classical times to the present. Seemingly no profession has been omitted; among those included are athletes, writers, diplomats, journalist, writers, militants, actors, revolutionaries, monks, and underworld figures. The introductory material describing the scope and method of the work is presented in English, French, Germany, Italian, and Spanish; the reference itself is in English. Individual volumes are not indexed. Volumes 2-9 continue the alphabetical list of real names; volumes 10-16 will be alphabetically arranged by pseudonym.
